Name: Isabel Deincourt 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Name: Maud Maude aka Sex: F Birth: ABT 1264 in Blankney, Branston, Lincolnshire, England Title: Baroness, Lady Death: BEF 29 MAY 1348 in Emley, Wakefield, Yorkshire, England Note: Sir William FitzWilliam (the subject of this article), was executor of his father's will in 1294, and was dead in 1342. He apparently married twice, (1) Maude, dead in 1324, and (2) Isabel Deincourt, who died 1348, apparently s.p. [Complete Peerage V:518 Note]
Note: The above has a 1st wife Muade, mother of his children. However the latest research, to be published in Edition 3 of Plantagenet Ancestry, has only 1 wife, Isabel Deincourt, sometimes referred to as Maude (see notes under William). That citation says of the above text "invents ficticious 1st wife Maud, misconstrues the settlement of 1324."
Edmund son of John Deyncourt had attained his majority in 1277, (fn. 66) and was summoned to Parliament as a baron by the title of Lord Deyncourt in 1299. (fn. 67) In 1314, having only a female heir, Isabel, he obtained a royal licence to settle his estates after his death for the preservation of his name and arms on William and John Deyncourt respectively in tail-male. (fn. 68) They were the sons of John Deyncourt of Parkhall, Derbyshire, representing a collateral branch of the family. (fn. 69) Edmund Deyncourt died about 1327 and was succeeded by his kinsman William, (fn. 70) first in the reversion, who was summoned to Parliament in 1332 as Lord Deyncourt. (fn. 71)
