He was knighted in France in 1513. SIR JOHN MAINWARING left a will dated 4 March 1515/6, proved 18 Nov. 1516 (P.C.C. 1 Maynwaryng). He was buried at Over Peover, Cheshire. His widow, Katherine, was mentioned in the 1527 will of John Stanley, Knt. She died in 1529.
