The next year he commanded an expedition against the Appalachian Indians, who had done great injury in the Cape Fear. N. C., region, completely subdued them, and in 1713 was in charge of the forces that were sent by Governor Charles Craven to the aid of the settlers, whose lands had been ravaged by the Tuscaroras.

James Moore II¬â€  was an Indian fighter, trader and Governor of South Carolina. He commanded the Provincial forces of SC against the Tuscarora Indians and led an expedition to St. Augustine, Florida as well as fought the Yemassesses in 1715 when they attacked the Carolina frontier.¬â€ ¬â€ Moore was credited for saving the colony.¬â€ He inherited his father's plantation called Boochawee Hall which consisted of 2,400 acres and at his death owned 43 slaves.¬â€ He was a great supporter of the Anglican Church and was given a pew at in the Church at St. James Goose Creek for his "pious care."
¬â€
On the 21st of December 1719, flags flew on the houses in Charleston and on the ships in the harbor. The men of the colony marched along the streets with rifles and declaired that they would no longer obey the commands of the propertiers. (This is from the History of Charleston) . They then elected one of their own men, James Moore¬â€ to be the ¬â€ Governor of South Carolina¬â€ ( 1719 to 1721.)¬â€  He was so popular at the time that the Moores's were considered the leading family of South Carolina and were known as¬â€  "The family". He also served as¬â€ Attorney General, Judge of the Admiralty Court¬â€ and Speaker of the South Carolina Assembly.
¬â€
In his will, he left the house to his wife, Elizabeth Moore (Beresford),¬â€ until¬â€  his son James reaches the age of 21 and¬â€  as long as Elizabeth is a widow she may also remain and receives forty pounds yearly. The other sons all received land and the rest of the estate was to be divided among any other children. He added several memorandums in which he left 200 pounds to John and Ann Weaver and then gave the legatees permission to sell the estate if exors consider it best action.
