RAINARD de Tonnerre ([980/90]-after 16 Jul 1039). လMilo comes Tornodorensis castriဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel, with the consent of လconiugis mee Ermengarde etဦfiliorum meorum Achardi, Rainardi et Albericiဝ, by charter dated to [992/1005][58]. "Milo comesဦ Achardus, Odo, Raynardus" witnessed the charter dated to [992] under which လUmbertusဦet mee conjugisဦGibergeဝ donated property "in villaဦCurtis-Secretaဦin comitatu Tornodorense" to Saint-Michel de Tonnerre[59]. It is possible that the last three names in the list refer to the children of Milon [IV] Comte de Tonnerre. Comte de Tonnerre. "Raynardus comes Tornodorensis pagi et mater mea Ermengardis comitissa" donated "alodum nostrumဦCappam" to Saint-Michel by charter dated 1002, signed by "Odonis vicecomitisဦ"[60]. "Leotgarda comitissaဦac filii mei Rogerii" donated "terramဦin villaဦJassant" to Saint-Michel by charter dated to [1005], signed by "Rogerius comes, Richardus, Rainardus comes, Alberic, Erembertus vicecomes, Miloဦ"[61]. လRainaldus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel, for the soul of လfilii mei Othonisဝ buried in the monastery and လuxore mea Hervizဦfilio nostro Arduyno ac filia Ermengardaဝ, by charter dated Jul 1036, subscribed by လဦRaynaldi comitis, Willelmi comitis filius eiusဝ[62]. လRaynardus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel (on his deathbed), with the consent of လuxoris mee Herviz et filii mei Harduini sive filie mee Ermengardeဝ, by charter dated 16 Jul 1039 which also names လmater mea Ermengardisဝ[63].
m (after 1002) HELVIS, daughter of --- (-after 16 Jul 1039). လRainaldus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel, for the soul of လfilii mei Othonisဝ buried in the monastery and လuxore mea Hervizဦfilio nostro Arduyno ac filia Ermengardaဝ, by charter dated Jul 1036[64]. လRaynardus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel (on his deathbed), with the consent of လuxoris mee Herviz et filii mei Harduini sive filie mee Ermengardeဝ, by charter dated 16 Jul 1039 which also names လmater mea Ermengardisဝ[65]. Rainard & his wife had three children:
i) OTTO de Tonnerre (-before Jul 1036, bur Tonnerre Saint-Michel). ·ÄúRainaldus comes·Äù donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel, for the soul of ·Äúfilii mei Othonis·Äù buried in the monastery and ·Äúuxore mea Herviz·Ä¶filio nostro Arduyno ac filia Ermengarda·Äù, by charter dated Jul 1036[66]. Otto is shown in Europâ§ische Stammtafeln[67] as having three possible sons, Robert, Wido and Renaud, all ·Äúpuer·Äù 1036. This is based on the charter of ·ÄúRainaldus comes·Äù dated Jul 1036 (see above). The full list of subscribers to this document is: ·ÄúRainaldi comitis, Arduini, Erviz matris eius, Ermengardⶠsororis eius, Ervei, Widonis, Hugonis, Barnuynis, Wydonis, Emelini, Iterii, Widrici, Rotberti clerici, Hugonis, Rodulfi, Attonis, Raynaldi, Rotberti pueri, Widonis pueri, Raynardi pueri, Richardi, Otmundi, Attoni, Joffredi, Otmundi, Aymonis, Millonis clerici, Raynaldi comitis, Willelmi comitis filii eius·Äù[68]. None of the names has been identified apart from Comte Renaud and his immediate family, and the last two. The names of the three ·Äúpueri·Äù have no special priority in the order of the list and it seems pure speculation to suggest that they may have been the sons of Otto, deceased son of Renaud.
ii) HARDOUIN de Tonnerre (-29 Sep 1065). လRainaldus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel, for the soul of လfilii mei Othonisဝ buried in the monastery and လuxore mea Hervizဦfilio nostro Arduyno ac filia Ermengardaဝ, by charter dated Jul 1036[69]. လRaynardus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel (on his deathbed), with the consent of လuxoris mee Herviz et filii mei Harduini sive filie mee Ermengardeဝ, by charter dated 16 Jul 1039 which also names လmater mea Ermengardisဝ[70]. Archdeacon at Noyon until 1050. Bishop of Langres 1050.
iii) ERMENGARDE de Tonnerre ([1023/26]-before 1090). လRainaldus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel, for the soul of လfilii mei Othonisဝ buried in the monastery and လuxore mea Hervizဦfilio nostro Arduyno ac filia Ermengardaဝ, by charter dated Jul 1036[71]. Her birth date is estimated from her marriage in [1039], combined with the fact that she was still not of marriageable age in 1036. လRaynardus comesဝ donated property to the monastery of Saint-Michel (on his deathbed), with the consent of လuxoris mee Herviz et filii mei Harduini sive filie mee Ermengardeဝ, by charter dated 16 Jul 1039 which also names လmater mea Ermengardisဝ[72]. Her marriage is referred to in the Gesta pontificum Autissiodorensium[73]. She succeeded as Ctss de Tonnerre in 1065 when her cousin Comte Hugues-Rainard became bishop of Langres[74]. m ([1039]%29 as his first wife, GUILLAUME [I] Comte de Nevers et d'Auxerre, son of RENAUD [I] Comte de Nevers & his wife Hedwig [Avoie] de France [Capet] (-20 Jun 1098, bur Nevers Saint-Etienne).

COMTES de BAR-sur-SEINE from FMG Medieval Land Database updated May 2020
A. COMTES de BAR-sur-SEINE
1. RAOUL . The Chronicle of St Bâ©nigne de Dijon names "miles Rodulfus·Ä¶de Barrensi castro·Ä¶et filius ipsius Rainardus"[169]. m ---. The name of Raoul·Äôs wife is not known. Raoul & his wife had one child:
a) RAINARD . The Chronicle of St Bâ©nigne de Dijon names "miles Rodulfus·Ä¶de Barrensi castro·Ä¶et filius ipsius Rainardus"[170]. same person as·Ä¶? RAINARD (-after [997]). Comte [de Bar-sur-Seine]. "Milo comes·Ä¶Raynardus comes·Ä¶" witnessed the charter dated to [992] under which ·ÄúUmbertus·Ä¶et mee conjugis·Ä¶Giberge·Äù donated property "in villa·Ä¶Curtis-Secreta·Ä¶in comitatu Tornodorense" to Saint-Michel de Tonnerre[171]. Ernest Petit suggests this co-identity, pointing out that Coussegrâ© was situated in the domaine of Chaource, which in part was a dependency of the county of Bar-sur-Seine[172]. There appears to be no other evidence of the existence of Rainard, son of Raoul, and Bouchard points out that the dating of the charter in question is uncertain[173]. She suggests that it is more likely that "Rainardus comes" was either Rainard Comte de Sens or Rainard Comte de Tonnerre, the son of Ermengardis. However, the latter suggestion appears incorrect as "Miles comes", who would have been the father of Rainard Comte de Tonnerre, is also named in the [992] charter. "·Ä¶Raynardi comitis·Ä¶Milonis comitis·Ä¶" subscribed a charter dated to [997] which deals with the property at Coussegrâ©[174]. m ---. The name of Rainard·Äôs wife is not known. Rainard & his wife had [one possible child]:
i) [ERMENGARDE (-after 1018). Ernest Petit suggests that Ermengarde, wife of Milon [III] Comte de Tonnerre, was the daughter of Rainard and heiress of Bar-sur-Seine[175]. A family connection is indicated by the charter dated to [992/1005] under which လMilo comes Tornodorensis castriဝ donated property "in villaဦCurtis-Secreta" to the monastery of Saint-Michel, with the consent of လconiugis mee Ermengarde et carissimorum filiorum meorum Achardi, Rainardi et Albericiဝ[176], the property being the same as the subject of the [992] charter witnessed by "ဦRaynardus comesဦ"[177]. m MILON [IV] Comte de Tonnerre, son of --- ([950/65]-1002 or after).]
B. COMTE de BAR-sur-SEINE (TONNERRE)
The family of the Comtes de Tonnerre presumably acquired the county of Bar-sur-Seine as a result of the marriage of Ermengarde (see above) and Milon [IV] Comte de Tonnerre, who was related to Hugues Rainard who is shown below although the precise relationship has not been ascertained.
1. HUGUES RAINARD de Tonnerre, son of MILO [V] Comte de Tonnerre & his wife Aceka --- (-2/3 Apr 1084). လMilo comes castri Tornodoriဝ donated property to Saint-Michel de Tonnerre, by charter dated 29 Sep 1046, which specifies that after the death of လsupradicti Milonis regnante filio eius Hugoneဦဝ, signed by လHugonis qui et Raynardiဦcomitisဦဝ[178]. He succeeded his father as Comte de Tonnerre et Comte de Bar-sur-Seine 1046. Archdeacon at Langres. Bishop of Langres 1065.
