Her parents are unproven as is her maiden name as being Hatcher.

Also, the Mary Branch who married Thomas Jefferson is not the Mary Branch who was Jane and William Branch's daughter, although it seems to be a widespread error. The Mary Branch who married Thomas Jefferson was the daughter of Christopher Branch II and Sarah Almond.

Jane (Hatcher) Branch Baugh Gower was born about 1640 (age 16 at 1st marriage) & died between 07 Dec 1709 (will dated) & when it was proved in Henrico County January 1710. Shewas buried in Henrico Co., VA in an unknown grave site on "Big Stone", the plantation she names in her will.
She was (likely) the daughter of William and Mary (_____) Hatcher.

Life Sketch
Identifying her here as the sister of Mary (Ward) wife of Edward Hatcher. This is one possible interpretation of her reference to "sister Hatcher" in her 1710 will. The dates and places work. However, we do need to find evidence if Mary (Ward) Hatcher is still living in 1710. If she is not, then this theory for Jane's identity is wrong. And even if Mary is still living, it doesn't prove that this theory is true, but does make it at least plausible. Note that Jane has previously been identified as a daughter of Wm Hatcher. This is based on the theory that the "sister Hatcher" mentioned in her will was the wife of a brother surnamed Hatcher, and thus that she might also have been a Hatcher. Because this theory has been around the longest, she has already had her temple work done as the daughter of Wm Hatcher. And so we are temporarily deleting her from that family in order to have her sealed as a daughter to Seth Ward--just in case that theory may be correct. If anybody has evidence one way or the other as to who her father was, we invite you to please include it in this life sketch.
