Morris' District.On August 4,1778,he took up 300 acres of land on the Woolf Branch of Swearing Creek,adjoining Jacob Waggoner,Frederick Micheal,Joseph Summings,McCulloch's line...,he received State Grant #525,@50 shillings the 100 acres",the same land described above.(Rowan County Deed Book 9,page 493).
He is listed on the Rowan County 1790 Census on page 173,and 1800 Census on page 394.
He moved west over the mountains to Buncombe County,North Carolina between 1800 and 1803 with other members of this family.
On March 14,1804, he and Jane purchased 100 acres of land on Cane Creek, near Fairview, from Andrew Mills.(BumcombeCounty Deed Book 7, page 663). They belonged to the Cane Creek Baptist Church.
Eldad I died in April 1806, and Jane died in January, 1811.Both are buried in the old Cane Creek Baptist Cemetery.
