Samuel was of Hartford in 1640, Wethersfield 1642, and one of the first proprietors at Norwalk in 1654. He served with his brother Thomas in the Pequot War of 1637, was representative for Norwalk in 1657, 1658, and 1660. He later went back to Wethersfield and lived in the part now Galstonbury.
Ca 1642 Samuel first married Mary Smith, daughter of Rev. Henry Smith (ca 1600-1648) & Dorothy [Smith] (-1694). Born ca 1624 at England. Mary died at Wethersfield, CT, on 19 Jan 1711/2.
