the next Salem court, and were bound.

"Samuell Shattock, sr., aged about 58 years, deposed tha t he was often with
Edward Wharton in the time of his sickness, the latter havi ng desired him to
look after his estate as per a writing under his hand, an d was of good under-
standing when he spoke as follows: 'he said he would giv e five pounds towards
a burrying place, and he said he did give to Mary Trask th e wife of Henry Trask
five pounds: also he dig give to Hannah Sibley widdow fiv e pounds: alsoe he
did give to Sarah Mills and her children ten pounds, all wh ich he often
expressed in the time of his sickness, and as he drew neer e to his end: he
expressed the same before other witnesses: and I asked wha t should become or
how he disposed of the remainder of his estate after all th ings were cleered,
as debts and legacies he said it should goe to his Brother s Samll. Shattocke,
James Mills.' Martha Robinson affiermed as in the presenc e of God and this
court 27:4:1678, before Hilliard Veren. cleric. 'He alsoe t old me that his vice
should be returned to England amongst his kindred, for he s aid it was his
father's before him and it should be returned into the gene ration and that his
eldest brothers on bore his fathers name and he should hav e it.'

Whereas at the court held at Ipswich Mar. 26, 1678 ther e was granted upon
the estate of Edward Wharton of Salem, glasier, to Samuel l Shattock, Sr. and
Samuell Shattock, Jr., and they giving bond and now at thi s court they having
presented an administration granted to George Wharton livin g in London and
brother of the said Edward Wharton, under the seal of the p rerogative court of
Canterbury, which this court judge legal, and they having a lso received a
letter of attorney and orders about the estate, the court 2 6:9:1678, ordered
them to send the estate that is in their hands to the sai d George Wharton
administrator, to England or his order; accordiongly they p aying all debts and
charges due from the estate here in New England and renounc e their power of
administration and are released of their bond.
