Hinshaw's Quaker Records, Vol. 1; N.C. Wills, p. 256, Grimes.
p. 86, 202, "THE MORRIS FAMILY OF WASH. CO., IN" by Earl C. Morris and Ralph L. Morris
Her youngest child was born in 1736 and she was not mentioned in her father's will in 1739.
Sometimes listed as "Bette" instead of Elizabeth
In the Quaker records of Pasquotank Co., NC, meeting of June 5, 1725, is the following: "Betty declared intention of m. William Symons. (Betty being William's father's brother's dau., the meeting advised against the m. as within the fourth degree of consanguinity.)"
In the light of a second entry, under the heading of William Symons (p. 33), wherein she married William in 1731 as his 2nd wife, we assume she may have heeded the meeting's advice in 1725, snf married someone else. We are confident that the Betsy mentioned is our Bette, for she did marry William Symons.
Betty and William lived in the Quaker community of Pasquotank Co. and were members of the Little River MM.
