Oorzaak: gesneuveld bij de terugtocht van de slag bij Denain
Cornelis van Nassau was Lord of Woudenberg. In 1699 he was an infantry captain in the army of the Dutch Republic and in 1700 was promoted to colonel. In the same year he was appointed by the Dutch stadtholder William III (in his capacity as King of England) as Master of the Robes. In 1704 he was made brigadier nand in 1709 Majorn General and Governor of Aisnes. He distinguished himself in the battle of Oudenaarde (1708) and was wounded at the battle of Malplaquet.
He drowned in the riuver Schelde after the battle of Denain.
