Ereignis (Fact): DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS CORRECT TWO DIFFERENT BIRTH DATES AND MILITAR.
Letter from Olivia (Williamson) Braddy to Joan Marlene Hamilton, dated April 6, 1999.
"I am 99% sure my Silas J. CORBIN (3rd or Jr..) is a son of Silas CORBIN and Anna Fiske. It is just logical if you weigh all the facts. I have his military record of War of 1812 (1812-1815) in which he states he was born in Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut, USA; he enlisted in service in Elizabethtown, New Jersey. His occupation was given as "sail maker". Also, the 1850 census of Emanuel County, GA gives his age as 60, born in Connecticut. I don't know anything about the circumstances which brought him South or when he married Mariah Irby (she was from Jefferson County, GA), but he shows up in Emanuel County in 1840 and 1850 census and nowhere after that. All three of their sons enlisted in the Confederate Army; the one named Silas was killed at Cold Harbor at the age of 17; the one named Wellington was captured by the Yankees and taken to prison where he took the oath to the Union and joined their army; the one named Nelson re-enlisted after being home on furlough and fought to the end of the War-he was my great-grandfather, and I am a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy through his service. Nelson disowned Wellington as brother because he considered him to be a traitor."

CORBIN - History and Genealogy of the Descendants of Clement Corbin of Muddy River (Brookline), Massachusetts, and Woodstock, Connecticut. Compiled by Rev. Harvey M. Lawson (Hartford, Connecticut) Hartford Press, 1905.
In the book "Clement CORBIN..." there are some children listed as "unknown" in the household of Silas CORBIN and Anna Fiske. Evidence leads researchers to conclude that the Silas CORBIN who came to Georgia is the "unknown male child" listed and was the third child this family named Silas, the first two having died in childhood. The CORBIN family of New England was known to name subsequent children for a deceased child.
Silas J. CORBIN fought in the War of 1812, enlisting in 1813 in Elizabethtown, NJ.
He was married before marrying Mariah Weaver Irby, when he was living in Bulloch County, GA in 1827, but her name is not known.
