John CORBIN graduated from Harvard in 1892 and received the degree of A.M. in 1893; resided a year, pursuing studies at Balliol College, Oxford, England. He then returned to Harvard, where he was instructor in English composition in 1895-6. He is a talented writer and contributor to magazines on literature, education, the drama, and university athletics. He was an assistant editor of Harper's Magazine from 1897 to 1900, on the editorial staff of the Encyclopedia Britannica, 1900-1902 since which time he has been the dramatic critic of the New York Times. He is the author of "The Elizabethan Hamlet" (Scribner's, 1895), "Schoolboy Life in England -- An American View" (Harpers, 1898), "An American at Oxford" (Houghton, Mifflin & Co., 1902), and "A New Portrait of Shakespeare" (Lane, N. Y., 1903). He belongs to the University Club of New York. Residence, 128 W. 11th St., New York."

"John studied for a year at Balliol College, Oxford. He then returned to Harvard and was an English composition instructor 1895-1896. He was an active writer who penned articles on literature, education, drama, and university athletics. Assistant editor of Harper's Magazine, 1897-1900, drama critic of Harper's Weekly, 1899-1900, member of the Encyclopedia Brittanica editorial staff, 1900-1902. He then became the drama critic for the New York Times and was in that position when Lawson wrote his work.
