Bio: Henry Kagy was born in Chester Co., PA. Lancaster County was not divided from Chester Co. until 1729. He was taxed at Conestoga Township, Lancaster County in 1759 next to Abraham Kagey. Migrated to the Shenandoah Valley in VA in 1768. First lived in Page Co., VA, then moved to Smith's Creek in Shenandoah Co., VA. He was the son of Hanse aka John R. Kägy.
He was married on 2 Feb 1756 to Barbara Stoner (b. c.1732), daughter of Hans Steiner of Conestoga Township, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. Witnesses to his will in Shenandoah Co., VA. were Jacob Neff [A214] and Francis Neff [A213]. Family was Mennonite.
On April 3rd 1769, Henry Kagay buys of Samuel and Catherine Lusk for £350 5s. 404 acres on "lying on Smith's Creek," adjoining Samuel Newman's land. This tract is in Shenandoah Co., VA near New Market. Kagey had come to Page (now Shenandoah) county from Pennsylvania in 1768.

In 1929, noted Shenandoah Co. Historian Dr. John W. Wayland Ph.D visited the cemetery and recorded some inscriptions. He commented in his notes that "probably 200 people are buried here, but fewer than 100 can be identified."

Note: There TWO cemeteries in the immediate area with the Kagey name in them. The earlier one is the Neff-Kagey Cemetery on the original lands of John Henry Neff.
