# The parents of Mary Milton have not been determined. She was identified as the wife of John Mogridge and the mother of Mary Mogridge (Maugridge) Boone in the genealogy of the Boone family prepared by her grandson James Boone in 1788
# The marriage of John Mogridge and Mary Milton does not appear in the Bradninch Parish, although there are some references to the Milton family there, as well as in the Bishop's Transcripts of the Bradninch Parish Register, the registers for nearby Stoke Canon and Clayhanger parishes and in Phillimore's Marriage Index for Taunton.
# John Mogridge and Mary Milton undoubtedly were married prior to 1653 when Johan was born
# The village of Bradninch is about eight miles north of the city of Exeter in Devonshire in the southwest of England. It is situated in the rolling hills above the west bank of the River Culm. Once held by the Earl of Cornwall as a Barony, Bradninch is an ancient borough and market town that has belonged to the Duchy of Cornwall since 1337. A natural son of King Henry I gave the town its first charter and thirty years or so later King John gave Bradninch "all such liberties and free customs" as Exeter itself enjoyed. A Thursday market and three-day fair followed. There is a mid-15th Century manor house still standing below Castle Hill. Bradninch was long a principal source of paper. The paper mills at Hele produced the first glazed writing paper in Britain.(13)

The fact that George Boone and Mary Mogridge named a son Squire suggestsa connection with the Squire family of Bradninch. There are many entriesfor the Squire (Squier) family in the Bradninch register but none of themindicate a relationship with the Boone family. Robert Mogridge and JaneSquer (sic), both of St. Davids, were married on 25 June 1655.(8)

Robert Moggridge who was buried at Bradninch on 13 February 1680/1(12)has not been connected to the family.

Most of the farms in the parish, together with the Manor, belong to theDuchy of Cornwall, a connection that goes back to Richard Plantagenet,Earl of Cornwall in the 13th Century. The Duke of Cornwall is Lord of theManor of Bradninch and the choir at St. Disen's Church wear the scarletcassocks of a royal chapel. The church banner design consists of arepresentation of St. Disen, with the Celtic form of tonsure, holding asymbolic church with a thatched roof. Shields on either side of thefigure of St. Disen are the arms of the See of Exeter on the left andthose of the town of Bradninch on the right. The Bradninch arms date fromRichard, Earl of Cornwall and Baron of Bradninch, who was the second sonof King John and brother of King Henry III. Prince Richard was the onlyEnglishman to be elected to the crown of the Holy Roman Empire. Headopted the black eagle of the empire as his armorial device, in place ofthe golden leopards of England. He bequeathed this device to his Boroughof Bradninch. St. Disen's Church was built in the mid-15th Century andhas been restored. The great screen in the church was painted in 1528.The date is given in a Latin inscription on the east side of the screen, which was restored in 1843 and re-painted ten years later. The dedicationof the Church to St. Disen is unique in the British Isles. Disen(considered by some to be an equivalent of Dionysius) was an Irishmissionary who came to Bradninch about the middle of the 7th Century andfounded the church. Later he went to Germany where he established amonastery near Mainz. The name "Disibodenberg" still survives there.Disen died in Germany in 674 at over eighty years of age. The Britishchurch commonly adopted as patrons the living founders of churchesinstead of dead saints, so it is assumed that a church of St. Disen's hasexisted since the 7th Centur
