ENTERED INTO ETERNAL REST Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1987 VICTOR WALTER MACK 1896-1987 Victor Walter Mack, youngest son of William and Margaretha Steitze Mack, was born September 22, 1895 on the family farm five miles east of Clay Center, and died December 22, 1987 at the Henderson Hospital at the age of 92 years and three months. He was baptized December 15, 1895 and joined the Emmanuel Evangelical Church in January of 1910. He was Chairman of the Building Committee of this church. He received his formal education at the Verona School. On November 27, 1917 he was united in marriage to Lula Davis. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past November. To this union two daughters were born, Alice and Ardyth. He lived and farmed within a half mile of his birthplace until he retired in 1980 at the age of 85. He served on the School Board of Illinois school for 24 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice and her husband Clifford Scully; his parents; sisters; Bertha Sundling, Laura Frei and Della Rich; and a brother Eugene. Survivors are: his wife Lula, daughter Ardyth and her husband Raymond Anderson; granddaughter Connie and husband Steve McMahon; grandsons: Larry Scully and wife Donna, David Scully and wife Jaleh, Michael Anderson and wife Coleen; great grandchildren; Shannon Davis, Rhonda Bennette, Lyle Scully, Ryan McMahon, Jeremy and Melissa Anderson; and one great-great- grandson, Cody Bennette; and his two sisters, Ruby Coakley and Viretta McClanahan. Services were December 28, 1987 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Clay Center. Special music was given by Melva Stertz, pianist. Casket bearers were Harold Brumond, Homer Carlson, Lloyd Stertz, Eugene Peterson, Gerald Boswell and Orvis Peshek. Interment was in the Clay Center Cemetery.
