On February 12, 1905 at Collins, Missouri, she was married to Rev. Arthur William Adkins, and to this wonderful union a life in ministerial work began that lasted over 50 years. Rev. and Mrs. Adkins were loved by all, wherever their work guided them. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1960. For many years they lived in the Cabool, Missouri area and for the past 20 years she has resided in Mtn. Grove, where she was a member of the Church Of The Brethren. Besides her husband she has been preceded in death by 2 grandchildren. Surviving are 4 sons; Clifford Dalton Adkins, of Midway City, California. Eugene Lewis Adkins, of Vienna, Virginia. Kenneth Wesley Adkins, of Ottumwa, Iowa. and Earl True Adkins of St.Louis, Missouri. 4 daughters: Opal Fern Miller of Hazelhurst, Wisconsin, Anna Amandy Altis of Branson, Missouri, Leola Clementine Alexander and Phyliss Roberts of Cabool, Missouri. One Brother; William Oliver Killingsworth of Salinas, California. A sister Mrs Andy Gardner of Lowry City, Missouri. 30 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also many others relatives and a host of friends and neighbors. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Elliott-Gentry Chapel with Reverends Fellal Culler and Ramey Gross officiating, Burial was in Cabool Cemetery, Cabool, Missouri. -------------------------------------------------- 100 MARK MRS ADKINS' BIRTHDAY; Nearly 100 family members and friends of Mrs. Josie Adkins of Mountain Grove gathered for an open house honoring her 90th birthday April 7. Mrs. Adkins received many congratulatory messages from churches she had been associated with along with her late husband, a district superintendent. In addition to many local people paying respects, out of town guests for the open house included Mr. and Mrs. Gale Barkdall of Constantine, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Reynolds of Kansas City, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller of Green Bay, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Miller of Hazelhurst, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Andy Gardner of Lowry City, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Beverly Suess of Kansas City, Missouri and Mr. and Mrs. George Bruto and son Kevin of Butler, Missouri. Also attending from out of town were Fred Hutton of ElDorado Springs, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Keltner of Strafford, Missouri; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Altis of Branson, Missouri. Guest from Springfield included Rev. and Mrs. Edward Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carson, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Altis, Mrs. Allyene Holdereid, Miss. Priscilla Keltner and Miss Ann Roberts.
