The first known Ardouin is Hardouin of Hiémois (died between 853 and 859), Count in Burgundy in 853 . At the court of Charles the Bald , he played the role of missi dominici and had to pacify Neustria , especially in the Avranchin in 853. He was married to Warimburg, whom some genealogists attached to the family of the Counts of Troyes, whose Parents are not known. He had two children:
Eudes or Oddon, who owned property in Neustria and Burgundy.
Ansgarde , (died November 2, 882) who married Louis the Stammerer. Louis the Stammerer had known Ansgarde in Brittany when he took refuge there after having rebelled against his father. He had married her in 862 without her father's consent. For some historians this made Ansgarde a concubine. He divorced his wife in 875 to marry the noble Adelaide de Frioul , daughter of Count Adalhard of Paris . Ansgarde had two sons and three daughters with Louis. After the refusal of the Pope to accept the divorce, she fights against the marriage with Adelaide that she treats of adultery. She first retired to the abbey of Chelles near Paris, then definitively in Ivrea where she was buried in 889 in the parish church of Settimo Vittone . On the death of Louis the Stammerer in 879 , she obtained that her two sons were designated kings of the Western Franks thanks to the support of the archbishop Hincmar of Reims
