LAST WILL & TESTAMENT Hannah Thornton 10 Dec 1847 This is the last will and testament of me HANNAH THORNTON of Clapham in the County of Surrey Widow Common Carrier I give and bequeath unto my daughter MARY REEVE her executors administrators and administrators my three leasehold houses situate and being Nos. 3, 4 and 5 Bedford Row in the Parish of Saint Mary Lambeth in the County of Surrey for all the residue of my term and interest therein subject nevertheless to the covenants in respect of the same and also to the payment to her, her executors administrators and assigns of the whole of the ground rent payable in respect of the said three houses as well as the ground rent payable in respect of my two other leasehold houses numbers 6 and 7 in Bedford Row aforesaid and in the event of her refusal or neglecting to pay such ground rent then the said legacy shall therefore lapse and become part of my residuary estate I give and bequeath unto my daughter HARRIET TWITCHEN her executors administrators and assigns my said two leasehold houses numbers 6 and 7 in Bedford Row aforesaid for all the residue of my term and interest therein exonerated from the payment of the ground rent in respect thereof which I have hereby charged on the aforesaid houses Nos. 3, 4 and 5 in Bedford Row aforesaid and I also give unto my said daughter HARRIET TWITCHEN the sume of one hundred pounds sterling to be paid to her as soon as conveniently after my decease I give and bequeath unto my daughter HANNAH THORNTON her executors administrators and assigns my two leasehold houses situate and being in North Row in the parish of Clapham aforesaid for all my term and interest therein subject to the rent and covenants affecting the same And I also give unto my said daughter HANNAH THORNTON the sum of two hundred pounds sterling to be paid to her as soon as conveniently after my decease I give and bequeath unto my executors hereinafter named the sum of one hundred pounds sterling to be paid to or retained by them as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and I direct them to invest the same together with the interest and dividends thereon from time to time as the same shall become due and payable in their names in the public funds or on real security in Great Britain and to stand possessed thereof in trust for my grandchildren ELIZABETH HANNAH CLEMENT and WILLIAM FREDERICK CLEMENT the children of my deceased daughter ELIZA CLEMENT to be equally divided between them share and share alike when and as they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years or be married and if either of them my said grandchildren shall die under the age of twenty one years and unmarried thereupon trust to stand possessed of all the said trust monies for the survivor of them my said grandchildren and if both of them my said grandchildren shall die under the age of twenty one years and without being married then I give and bequeath the said trust monies and the accumulations thereof unto my four children the said MARY REEVE HARRIET TWITCHEN and HANNAH THORNTON and my son RICHARD THORNTON their executors and administrators to be equally divided between them share and share alike and as to all the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever situate and of what nature or kind the same may be I give the same unto my said son RICHARD THORNTON his heirs executors administrators and assigns subject to the payment of my debts and funeral and testamentary expenses And I appoint my said son and ALEXANDER THORNTON of The New North Road Hoxton in the County of Middlesex Licensed Victualler executors and trustees of this my will and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made In witness whereof I the said HANNAH THORNTON the testatrix have hereunto set my name the tenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven - The mark X of HANNAH THORNTON - signed published and declared by the said Hannah Thornton the testatrix in the presence of us who present at the same time and in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto the will having been previously read over to her in our presence and she fully understanding the same - PHILIP JAQUES Solicitor Cliffords Inn London - FRED[eric]K SERJEANT his Clerk
