Newspaper report: DEATH OF MR RICHARD KINGSLEY
We regret to announce the death of Mr Richard Kingsley which occurred at his residence on Monday. He was the third son of the late Mr James Kingsley, of Graveley, and was born in 1859. He was a farmer and prominent cattle dealer, and at a single fair he would sometimes turn over as large a sum as £2000. He regularly attended the London, Hitchin and Bedford markets, and was a keen business man. After the death of his father his mother came to live at "The Elms" London Road, and after her death Mr Kingsley took over the tenancy and the management of the farm, where he lived for upwards of 30 years. He was well known in and around Hitchin, especially among agriculturists. By his sound judgment and business capacity he made himself a prosperous career. The deceased had been suffering for the past two years from paralysis. He was unmarried and is survived by a sister, Mrs Julia Kingsley (widow of the late Mr Dick Kingsley, of Pond Farm), and a brother, Mr E Kingsley of Rye House, Hertford. The funeral took place at St Ippolyts yesterday (Friday) at 3.30
