Notes for THOMAS WILLIAM HART: Thomas William Hart enlisted in the Florida Militia, Co. B, 5th Infantry, March 8, 1862 at Lake City, Columbia County, Florida. He was elected 2nd Lt. Dec. 9, 1863. Was a Prisoner of War being captured at Harper's Farm, Virginia on April 6, 1865 and taken to Johnson Island. Here he had to eat grasses to stay alive and cover with only old newspapers to keep warm. He was released on Oath June 18, 1865.
When he died in 1909, his widow Sarah (Sallie) Malinda Herring Hart filed for pension. Burial Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Welbourn, Fl

Notes for JOHN HART: Arrived in Pa. in 1681, at the age of 35, married Susannah Rush. They settled in Berry Township. Was a Baptist Minister and was father of other ministries. He preached among the Indians until 1691. They emigrated from Oxfordshire, England. His sister Mary and brother Joseph accompanied him and Susannah came over about a yr. later with her parents. He purchased 1000 acres from William Penn, 1st. settler, for a very nominal sum of 20 pounds equal portions were located in Byberry and Warminster. He lived 1st at the former place on th e banks of the Poquessing, but removed to the vicinity of Johnsville in 1695, where he passed the rested of his time, dying in 1714. He came over with William Penn and was a noted Quaker Preacher. The family homestead in Warminster is still in the family or until recently. 40 acres of the farm is now included in the Town of Ivyland.
John and sister Mary accompanied William Penn to America in abt.1681. When he arrived, he was unmarried and 34 y.o. The Rush Family came over at the same time and were his neighbors. That is how he met and got to know his future wife, Susannah Rush. They were married in 1683. We know John was in America because his name is found on the grand jury of the state dated Sept. 12, 1682. He was very active in public affairs.
