!OBITUARY: The Glen Elder Sentinel, 11-Apr-1942:
"Leslie Luckey, son of J.W. and Elizabeth Luckey was born at Glen Elder,
Kansas on July 11, 1876 on his father's homestead near Glen Elder, Mitchell
County, Kansas; and passed away at his home south of Glen Elder, Kansas April
11, 1942, being aged 65 years, 9 months. He was married to Creola Agnes Black
October 1, 1902 at Norton, Kansas. To this union three children were born:
Beulah, Evelyn, Lewis Dudley, and James Reuben. One child preceded in death,
being James Reuben, who died August 11, 1908, in infancy.
"At an early age Leslie was baptized in the faith and he remained a faithful
worker to the end. On January 4, 1936 he transferred his membership by letter
to the Glen Elder Christian Chruch where was a member of the Loyal Berean
Sunday School class.
"Those left to mourn his departure are his wife, a daughter Mrs. Henry Staley
and a son Lewis both of Glen Elder, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; a brother Charles
Luckey of Glen Elder; a step-mother, Lewella Luckey, Woodburn, Oregon; a half
brother Russell Luckey, of Woodburn, Oregon; and 3 half sisters: namely Mrs.
Almeda Hawley of Woodburn, Oregon; Laura Deeds and Emma Lund of Glen Elder; and
a host of other relatives and friends. Most of his life was spent near Glen
Elder.
"Funeral services were Tuesday afternoon, April 14, at the house at 2:15 by
Reverend Sumner at the Christian Church at Glen Elder, Kansas at 3:00; and he
laid to rest in the Grelete Cemetery. Pall bearers were Henry Kohler, George
Kohler, Nelson Staley, Willie Albert, Henry Albert, and Fred Terry."
