Weis. 257-30. Robert Aguillon was heir of his father 1244. He held lands in Addington, Surrey; Walton, Herts; and Greatham, Hants. He is seen 1260, 1267. He was sheriff of Surrey and Sussex and constable of Guilford Castle in 1264. He had a license to crenellate manor house of Perching and to ditch in 1268.
Sir Robert was md. twice, to the following:
1. Joan de Ferrers, 5th dau. of William de Ferrers, Earl of Derby [d. bef. Mar 1254] by his first wife, Sibyl le Marshal, and widow of John de Mohun, md. Sir Robert Aguillion in or bef. Aug. 1256 [Cal. Patent Rolls, 1247-58, p. 495; Close Roles, 1254-56, p. 442]. She d. bef. Jun 1269 [Cal. Patent Rolls, 1266-72, p. 348], and appears to have been dead in Oct 1267. 2. Margaret, dau. of Count Thomas of Savoy, Count of Flanders (1237-1244) by his second wife Beatrice deFiesco, sister of Pope Innocent IV, md. 1stly Baldwin de Reviers, Earl of Devon and Lord of the Isle of Wight. He accompanied King Henry III to France in 1262, where he evidently died of the plague bef. 13 Sep 1262. Margaret, his widow, md., in 1269, as 2nd wife, Sir Robert Aguillon [Patent Roll, 53 Hen. III, m. 12], of Watton, Herts., Perching, Sussex, & co., who d. 15 Feb 1285-86 [Ch. Inq.p.m., Edw. I , file 44 no. 10]. She was granted the manor of Watton, 21 Feb 1285-86, to hold until her dower was assigned, i.e. until 4 Apr following. She d. shortly bef. 14 May 1292 [Ch. Inq. p.m., Edw.
