The order & death dates of Hildegarde's husbands are somewhat confusing. I find support for her first two marriages in the order given (Ernaud de la Forte and Hugh I de Chateaudun) on the newgroup, soc.genealogy.medieval, in postings by Ed Mann and several others. Adrian Channing, who is a respected professional genealogist gives the third marriage for Hildegarde, along with her parents, which leaves no doubt as to her identity, although Adrian does not mention the prior marriages in her post.
I have inserted an extra Geoffrey I-1/2 de Chateaudun into the pedigree, which makes it likely that Hugh de Chateaudun is the 2nd husband (agreeing with Ed Mann, although he does not mention the 3rd husband Beuchard de Montmorency). Many people do not have Geoffrey I-1/2 in the line, going directly to Geoffrey II, b. abt 991. This may be the case, but Ed Mann has Hugh d. bef 989, which would not fit with the 991 birth year; plus the fact that Hildegarde would have been close to 50 when Geoffrey II was born, which is not likely. I have taken the liberty of decreasing Hugh's lifetime from "bef. 989" to "bef. 969" in order to allow Hildegarde to marry Bouchard in time to have their son.
I also took the liberty of shortening Hildegarde's lifetime by changing Adrian Channing's birth date of "abt 940" to "aft 943" because her mother's 1st husband, William "Longsword" of Normandy, did not die until 942, when she would have married Hildegarde's father. (per Jim Weber)
