ARTHUR DE KOTER
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Arthur De Koter, 70, of Sioux Center died Thursday, Oct. 10, 1996, at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull, Iowa. Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at the First Reformed Church in Maurice, Iowa, with the Rev. Wayne Sneller officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Township Cemetery near Maurice, with military honors by American Legion Doornink-Brunsting Post 199 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6129. The Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. De Koter was born May 10, 1926, in Ruthton, MN., the son of Gerrit and Cornelia (Drooger) De Koter. He entered the United States Army in 1944 and served during World War II. He was discharged in June 1946 and married Ruth Mouw on Nov. 25, 1947, in Orange City. Iowa. Mr. De Koter was a heavy equipment operator for Sioux County for 38 years, retiring in 1988.
Mr. De Koter was a member of the First Reformed Church in Maurice, and the American Legion in Sioux Center. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Dean and Connie of Spencer, Iowa; a daughter, Rebecca of Hills, MN.; three grandchildren, Rick, Trent and Kara; two brothers, Peter of Sioux Center, and Bill and his wife Margaret of Orange City; two sisters and their husbands, Audree and Dick Durward of Tumwater, Wash., and Betty and Arlen Beeck of Boulder, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Christina Van Donkelaar and Cornelia Gearhart.
