Obit: Donna Mayo
Mrs. Donna Porter Mayo, 52, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003. The funeralservice will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Salem United MethodistChurch. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Mayo, a nativeof Pitt County, was a longtime resident of the Simpson community. She wasa graduate of Winterville High School, Class of 1968, and was employedwith G.R. Whitfield School as a teacher’s assistant for 15 years. She wasa member of the Teacher’s Assistants Association of North Carolina, theSimpson Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and a lifelong member of theSalem United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the LindyEdwards Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and Salem choir.She was preceded in death by her father, Leland “Ham” Porter; andgrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G.S. Porter and Mrs. Geneva Webb. Survivingare her husband of 34 years, Johnnie Mayo; two sons, Tracey Mayo andwife, Amanda, and Kevin Mayo and wife, Melissa; mother, Thelma WebbPorter; sister, Jackie Wall and husband, Gray; and a niece, KimberlyJustice and husband, Lee, all of Simpson; special cousins, Becky Overton,Ann Harris, Barbara Walker and Pam Jolly; special aunts and uncles, ElsiePorter, Louise and Elton Reel, Betty Batts and Charlie Harris; and amongmany special friends, Betty Wilson and Patricia Garris.
