In 1498/9 Sir ROBERT was sheriff of Kent, a lt of Guisnes &comptroller of Calais, who in right of his wife became possessed of StMary Cray and Ringwold manors and whose 1/3 of share of Boughton-placemanor was held by his descendant in 1552;
(i)THOMAS (-1550) ancestor of Bn WOTTON (cr 1603) treasurer of Calais,and PC to Hy VIII; Hollingshed says the k offered to make him ldchancellor, which, through his modesty he refused; In 1535/6 sheriffof Kent; At his death he held the manor of Colbridge, and the manor ofByndwardsmarsh, together with other lands purchased of Hy VIII.
