foot g: In 1468 Anne Boleyn, Roger Copley and Anne his wife, James Carew and Eleanor his wife, and Elizabeth Hoo sued Thomas Echingham for the manor of Ockley as heirs of Nicholas Malmayns and Alice, and Thomas Echingham said that he was a knight on the day the writ was sued out (De Banco Roll, Mich. 8 Edw. IV, m 606).  On 1 May 1475 Thomas Hoo esquire and others conveyed to James Carew and Eleanor, his wife, the site of the manor of Wartling, Sussex, &c., to them and the heirs of Eleanor, remainder to Elizabeth Massingberd, Anne Boleyn, and Anne Copley and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to Thomas Hoo of Abbots Walden, Herts., and the heirs of his body; finally to the right heirs of Sir Thomas Hoo, late Lord de Hoo and de Hastings (B.M. Add. Chart. 23825).
