Ralph had T. B. of the spine and the hip. He had surgery and had to wear a brace. Joseph Lewis, his father, made his brace so he could walk with a crutch.Ralph had pheumonia when he was two in Idaho. Pace On Sunday morning Dec 29 of the passing year 1929 Phoenix campus arose to learn that Ralph Nicholas Pace, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Pace had died during the late hours of the night. "Nick" Pace, as he was familiarly known, had been a sufferer from tuberculosis and kindred ailments during most of his life. He was born at Boise Idaho June 28, 1911 and lived with his parents in that state and in Oregon before coming to Phoenix some years ago. Some years since, an operation on a crippled leg bid fair to restore him to comparative health and he was able to attend school. He was always interested in outdoor games, becoming so proficient in the rules of football that he often officiated in minor games among the boys of Phoenix Indian School and once coached a team of small boys in the nerby Osborne public school. The young man wa a great reader and was a thinker beyond his years. He was kind to smaller boys and girls on the campus and was beloved by older persons as well as by his young companions. Folowing the example and leadership of his honored parents he was a Christian who passed out of this world unafraid. Mr. and Mrs. Pace, the brother Ralston and two small sisters have the deep sympathy of their campus associates as well as of the many neighbors who attended the funeral of Dec 31st. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery from Moore's undertaking establishment. The service being conducted by Rev. Harry Hersher.".BURIAL: Ralph was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Phoenix, Maricopa, USA
