Per Diane Bertrand on 12 Aug 2002:
In looking through a land warrants book for Gores, I happened to see a Priscilla Grissett who purchased a land grant for 50 "not 100" ac. It was issued July 10, 1808 is on Waccamaw R., Wm. Hickmon & Wm Grissett were chain carriers. Checked the 1810 census and found a Wm. J. Grissett with 1 male under 10, one male 26-55 and one female 26-44. Could possibly be her. Also 1820 shows a William Grissett.
I think this Priscilla Grisset is a Wingate- Henny Carlisle

*Note: one can receive a gift of land under age 21; but not buy or sell.
Priscilla got 80a of a 100 tract and Willis West got 20 of it
Priscilla got 24a of a 120 tract and Willis WEst got 96 of it
in this 1813 deed he is selling it back to them making a whole again in this same deed and tells us John Hinnant Faulk is living on his and Priscilla''s 80 acres there on the North side of Bay Branch....and with Willis land just sold it became whole as the original grants before Jonathan owned it....Isacc Simmons Sr......
