Notes par Nancy Ann "Sidy" (Nancy Ann "Sidy") (Sidy) Faulk

Sidy Faulk was born circa 1790 in Bladen, now Columbus County, NC. She married Gabriel Long and may have married a Lay. After Phillip Faulk, Sr's death, a Long bought out Swamp House plantation in 1828 and the land is still owned by that family. References are: Columbus County, North Carolina, November, 1828 court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions.

It appears that Sidy left Gabriel who appeared to have been unfaithful. Why she did leave her children with him, we do not know. She was not broke and owned slaves.

Her sons' Reuben and Daniel gave up their part of her estate, abt, 1834, which could mean that Nancy gave part of her estate to them. In 1832 they received their grandchild's share of the Philip Faulk estate. Daniel and Reuben sold their maternal inheritance in 1834 to Joseph Long Sr. their uncle. The maternal grandparents lived next door.

Richard, Kezia, Priscilla, and Isaac King were left with Gabriel in 1820 - why was Kezie not mentioned in the Philip Faulk estate as a minor heir. However, she was given land directly by her father Gabriel Sr, as was Dorcas another daughter by wife no.#3.

She was Gabriel Long's second wife and after his death remarried to Bryan Gause by 1830, as his second wife. They had John Bryan b. 1831 and Nancy b. 1832. Bryan Gause died before 1860 and Nancy "Sidy" Ann Faulk Gause was in control of his vast estate.
