John Canady (Kennedy) 48, m, died July (18)50, inflam. of hips, 7 months (duration of illness). It is said he could have been shot.

26 Aug 1782 Dan'L McQuinn of Cumberland Co. NC sells 200A to Dempsey KENNEDY.
10 Oct 1801 John KENNEDY as the last surviving exctr of last will of Dempsey KENNEDY of Duplin CO NC sells his land on Great Cohary & Beaverdam to Wm Hobbs.

A John Canady received a Land Grant of 100 A. on 15 Oct 1783 and also granted land (per #81) on 16 Feb 1778, both parcels in Bug Hill. The first parcel is adjacent to Ramsey Ford. This John we suspect is the father of our John.

CENSUS
A John Cannidy is in the 1790 Brunswick Co., census 1 male over 16, 7 females. Living next to Jonathan Gore, on now Rt 905 up from Swamphouse Plantation. Maybe a father. John was b. 1802. This could be the father.

A Joseph Canniday is in the 1790 Bladen Co., NC census with 2 M and 4 F.
Per Susan Formyduval Thomas, this Joseph could be the father.

A John Canaday is found in the 1830 Bladen County census as follows:
1 m under 5; 1 m 30-40 ; 1 f under 5; 1 f 20-30

John Canady and Priscilla were living down the road close to her family. After the death of John Canady, Priscilla moved to the Jones section of Bug Hill on the Jones curve - per Susan F. Thomas.

Gore], Nath'l Marler, Arthur Robbins, John Smith ,JNO CANEDAY, John Goodson Ramsey, Joseph Hewett, Will'm Goodman, Sen, be appointed to lay out a road from Pyraway crossing the Seven Creeks at or near the Swamp House, from thence extending up the Beaver Dam Swamp a direct course till intersects with the road leading from Suoles' Swamp in Bladen County"

May not be our John/Jonathan Canady but could be a father.
