EUSTACHE [II] de Fiennes, son of CONON de Fiennes & his wife --- (-after 1141).¬â "Cononis de Fieules, Eustacii et Rogerii filiorum eius·Ä¶" subscribed the charter dated Jul 1112 under which "Eustacius Bolonie comes" confirmed the possessions of the abbey of Samer[595].¬â "Cono de Finlleiz, Eustacius et Rogerius filius eius·Ä¶" subscribed the charter dated 16 Jul 1113 under which "Eustachius junior·Ä¶Boloniensium comes" confirmed the possessions of the abbey of Samer[596].¬â "·Ä¶Eustachius de Fielnes, Willelmus et Rogerus fratres sui·Ä¶" subscribed the charter dated 1141 (presumably misdated because of the donors·Äô titles) under which "Stephanus comes Bolonie et Morethonii et Mathildis comitissa" confirmed the possessions of the abbey of Samer[597].¬â The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium records that "Eustacius senex de Fielnis" founded "ecclesiam de Bello-loco"[598].¬â

1.¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â EUSTACHE [III] de Fiennes (-before 1187).¬â The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium names "Eustacium·Ä¶Engelramnum·Ä¶Gillebertum ·Ä¶Radulphum" as the sons of "Eustacius·Ä¶senex de Fielnis"[599].¬â m as her first husband, MARGUERITE de Guines, daughter of ARNAUD Comte de Guines & his wife Mathilde de Saint-Omer (-1222).¬â The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium records that "Eustacium", son of "Eustacius·Ä¶senex de Fielnis", married "Ghisnensis comitis Arnoldi filiam Margaretam"[600].¬â The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium names (in order) "Margaretam·Ä¶Beatricem·Ä¶Adelidem ·Ä¶Eufemiam et Luthgaudam·Ä¶Mathildem·Ä¶Ghislam·Ä¶Agnetem" as the eight daughters of "Gandavense Arnoldo" & his wife, specifying that Marguerite married firstly "Eustacio de Fielnis" and secondly "Rogero Curtracensi castellano"[601].¬â She married secondly Roger [I] Châ¢telain de Courtrai Burggraaf van Gent.¬â Philippe Count of Flanders confirmed the donation of property "in parrochia de Severne" to the church of Saint-Martin, Popinglo made by "Rogerus castellanus et uxor eius Margareta" by charter dated 6 May 1187, signed by "Rogeri, Arnoldi, Giselberti filiorum ipsius Rogeri castellani, Joannis Insularis castellani·Ä¶Sigeri de Gant·Ä¶"[602].¬â "Margareta quondam castellana Curtracensis" donated revenue to Gant Saint-Pierre by undated charter[603].¬â A charter dated to [1201/09] records the donation by "nobilis matrona Margareta·Ä¶castellana Curtracensis" to Gant Saint-Pierre for the anniversary of "domini Eustachii primi mariti eiusdem matrone"[604].¬â
2.¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ENGUERRAND [I] de Fiennes (-1218).¬â The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium names "Eustacium·Ä¶Engelramnum·Ä¶Gillebertum ·Ä¶Radulphum" as the sons of "Eustacius·Ä¶senex de Fielnis"[605].¬â m (before 1171) SIBYLLE de Tingry, daughter of FARAMUS de Boulogne & his wife Mathilde --- (-after 29 Sep 1223).¬â The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium records that "Engelramnum", son of "Eustacius·Ä¶senex de Fielnis", married "nobilem de Tingreio Sibillam, Willelmi Faramus sororem"[606].¬â Faramus donated the tithes of Sombres to the abbey of St Josse ·Äúcum uxore Matilda et Sibilla filia mea·Äù, with the consent of ·ÄúMatheo Boloniense comite et heredibus meis Ingeranno de Fienles et uxore eius Sibilla filia mea·Äù, by charter dated 1171[607].¬â ·ÄúSibilla de Tyngria filia Farami de Bolonia, domina de Clopham·Äù confirmed the donation of land ·Äúin Balgehem, quâ¶ pertinebat ad manerium de Clopham·Äù [see her father·Äôs confirmation] to Bec Abbey by undated charter[608].¬â Her dowry was the manor of Mortok in Somerset, as shown by the Testa de Nevill which includes a writ of King John dated 1212 which records that "Willelmus de Fienes" held "manerium de Mortok que fuit de dominico regis de dono comitis Willelmi filii Reginaldi filii Stephani qui manerium predictum dedit [Faramo] de Bolonia pro servicio i militis" in Somerset[609].¬â The Testa de Nevill includes a list of landholdings in the honour of Boulogne, dated to [1217/18], which includes "Sibilla de Fenes" holding "vi milites·Ä¶in Lamburne, ii milites in Fifide et Blakehall et Lacfare·Ä¶"[610].¬â The Pipe Roll 1223 records ·ÄúSibilla de Fiednes·Äù owing ·Äúde de Honore Bolon·Äù in Essex/Hertfordshire[611].¬â Enguerrand & his wife had [five or more] children:¬â
a)¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â ¬â GUILLAUME [I] de Fiennes (-[17 Oct 1239/4 Jul 1240]).¬â The Historia Comitum Ghisnensium names "Willelmum, Thomam et Eustacium et filias" as the children of "de Fielnis·Ä¶Engelramnum" and his wife "nobilem de Tingreio Sibillam·Ä¶"[612].¬â ·ÄúWillelmus filius Ingelrami dominus de Fielnes·Äù donated property to Andres, with the consent of "uxore mea Agnete et filio meo Ingelramno", by charter dated 1 Jan 1203 witnessed by "Radulfo de Fielnes patruo meo·Ä¶Joanne de Tingri·Ä¶"[613].¬â The Testa de Nevill includes a writ of King John dated 1212 which records that "Willelmus de Fienes" held "manerium de Mortok que fuit de dominico regis de dono comitis Willelmi filii Reginaldi filii Stephani qui manerium predictum dedit [Faramo] de Bolonia pro servicio i militis" in Somerset[614].¬â An undated order (listed between orders dated 16/17 Oct 1239) granted respite to ·ÄúWilliam de Fiennes·Äù for certain scutages[615].¬â An undated order (listed with orders dated 4 Jul 1240) records that King Henry III ·Äúupon the death of William de Fiennes, has taken homage from Enguerrand, son and heir of the said William·Äù for his lands[616].¬â m AGNES de Dammartin, daughter of AUBRY [II] Comte de Dammartin & his wife Mathilde de Clermont-en-Beauvaisis (-after 10 Apr 1244).¬â ·ÄúWillelmus filius Ingelrami dominus de Fielnes·Äù donated property to Andres, with the consent of "uxore mea Agnete et filio meo Ingelramno", by charter dated 1 Jan 1203 witnessed by "Radulfo de Fielnes patruo meo·Ä¶Joanne de Tingri·Ä¶"[617].¬â Her parentage and marriage are indicated by an enquiry in 1267 which adjudged property of ·ÄúPhilippus olim comes Bolonie et...Matildis·Äù to ·ÄúMatheus comes Domni-Martini, domini Guillelmus de Fienes, Baldoinus de Fienes, Michael de Fienes, Ingerannus de Pinquegniaco et Renaudus de Pinquegniaco, heredes comitisse Matildis Bolonie·Äù[618].¬â An order dated 10 Apr 1244 relating to ·Äúmanerium de Marthoc...quod fuit Enger de Fenles·Äù, permitted ·ÄúAgn. matrem ipsius Inger·Äù to administer aspects of the property[619].¬â Guillaume & his wife had six children:¬â
