== Biography ==Elisha was born on January 1, 1784 in Hampstead, Queens County, New Brunswick. He was a son of [[Corey-57|Gideon Elisha Corey]] and [[Clarke-455|Abigail (Clarke) Corey. His parents were United Empire Loyalists, having arriving in New Brunswick a year earlier during the exodus from New England after the American Revolution. The province of New Brunswick was itself only created in 1784 from the northern portion of the Colony of Nova Scotia after the arrival of the loyalists greatly increased the population in the area.
