Notes about Ferdinand Folef d'Aulnis de Bourouill

Ferdinand Folef is de derde zoon van mr. Jan Carel Ferdinand d'Aulnis de Bourouill (1811-1883) en jonkvrouw Catharina Johanna Quintus (1818-1857). Ferdinands tweelingbroer was hoogleraar Johan d'Aulnis de Bourouill. Zijn oudste broer werd bankier, zijn tweede broer notaris en hij ging in het leger en werd eerste luitenant bij het 5de Regiment Infanterie. Hij kreeg twee zonen, Willem (1887-1937) en George (1888-1927).

In 1886 werd hij burgemeester van Vuren, bij Gorinchem, en even later ook gemeentesecretaris. Op 8 april dat jaar trouwde hij met Susanna Christina Hiddingh (Assen, 7 mei 1859).
In 1891 werd hij burgemeester van Heerde en op 9 oktober 1897 van Baarn. Daar woonde hij op Klein Mariënberg aan de Eemnesserweg.

Als burgemeester was hij streng tegen zijn ambtenaren, en zeer begaan met zijn inwoners. Hij was geliefd, en werd bij veel verenigingen gevraagd als voorzitter of beschermheer.

Hoewel d'Aulnis in Velp was overleden, werd hij in Baarn begraven. In Baarn werd een straat vernoemd.
