Hermine Hanotiaux était Administrateur du Groupement Professionnel de l'industrie Margarinière,membre du comité restreint de cette industrie au temps du contingentement, membre des commissions paritaires ( elle était le seule femme y siégeant). Elle se livrait aussi à des études où elle rencontrait, avec un bon sens saisissant, les aspects les plus particuliers des questions économiques. Ses livres " Face aux Difficultés économiques" et "Au carrefour de l'Economie" ont valu plus de 500 lettres dont beaucoup émanaient d'éconnomistes chevronnés. Son action débordait les frontières de la Belgique. Co-fondatrice des Nouvelles équipes Internationales, elle était liée d'amitié à d'éminentes personnalités belges et étrangères.

Pour ses enfants, elle était une maman toujours fatiguée et infatiguable, à la sollicitude souriante, aux lettres abondantes et magnifiques. Pour son personnel, elle était douée
d'une autorité morale prodigieuse. Sa vie sprituelle intense, qu'elle
alimentait chaque jour d'une heure de méditation, son extrème compétence professionnelle, la fermeté et la douceur de sa direction -"main de fer dans un gant de velour" disait-elle,- le rayonnement considérable de sa personnalité et l'effusion de son sourire, toutes ses qualités
personnelles étaient portées chez elle à une perfection que d'écrire
sa vie, c'est en faire l'éloge.

Pendant la guerre, elle s'est consacrée à la charité. Présidente diocésaine de Caritas Catholica, elle a constitué des dizaines de hômes d'enfants et plus d'un million de journées d'hébergement ont été inscrites dans ses régistres d'assurance. (1)

Elle est décédée suite à un malheureux accident ( écrasée par un tram en face de la ferme de Martinroux ).
