Gebaseerd op de kwartierstaat van Gerrit van der Steen (1880-1961) en de parenteel van Cornelis Pieterszn (ca.1605-ca.1660), geeft deze genealogische verzameling een goed beeld van de inwoners van Pernis van de 17e tot midden 20e eeuw. De informatie is voornamelijk gebaseerd op het werk van Maarten Pieter van der Steen, die in 1994 en 1997 'De Onderste Steen Boven' publiceerde, aangevuld met gegevens uit eigen onderzoek en van de website www.voorouder.nl van Walter Schulze.
