My curiosity about my ancestors has long been stimulated by the stories of my mother, Maria De Beckker. She told about her ancestors, including the stallion farmer Wuyts in Schoten and the councilor PJ De Beckker in Schoten.

Who were my ancestors, where did they live and what did they do as a profession?

Their names and their personalities disappeared into the mists of time, as will happen to us... 150 years after our birth, when our last grandchildren have died, the memory of us fades away.

I have tried to remember some of our ancestors. Sometimes with stories about their lives. The battle they sometimes had to wage against disaster, wars, diseases...

I would like to thank the many people whose works I consulted, including historical circles, genealogists, archives and many others!
