    Echtpaar was woonachtig in Burtscheid bij Aken en zijn beiden jong gestorven door koolmonoxide vergiftiging. Na het plotselinge overlijden van beide ouders stonden alle 4 kinderen alleen. Dochter Anny (toen 3 of 4 jaar oud) herinnert zich later dat er een Peter was, die gezegd had, dat de kinderen naar maar een "Gesticht" moesten. Dit gebeurde echter niet. De broers en zussen van Schijns ontfermden zich over de kinderen.
    De St. Michael Kirche werd veelal genoemd in die tijden, waarschijnlijk moet er een bepaalde relatie mee bestaan.
