Notes about Geertrui Meintser

Vreemdelinge in Rotterdam. Mogelijk maakte ze deel uit van een groep "mensen" op doorreis, waarschijnlijk kermislieden. (citaat uit de arcieven)

Geertrui Meintser heeft kennelijk op jeugdige leeftijd Leeuwarden verlaten en zich in Rotterdam aangesloten bij een groep mensen. Op 18-jarige leeftijd is haar dochter Catharina geboren ("in ontucht verwekt") Vermoedelijk is hier de naam De Mense aangenomen. 7 jaar later in 1817 krijgt zij een zoon: Albertus Meintser.

In 1824 trouwt Geertrui met Albert Corbelijn, een gepensioneerde marine officier. Hier hanteert ze de naam Meintser.

Voor het huwelijk van haar dochter Catharina in 1835 wordt er een uitreksel uit het geboorteregister van de gemeente Rotterdam gemaakt. In dit archiefstuk is haar naam Geertrui de Mense.

In de trouwacte van Franciscus Bernardus en Catharina wordt Geertrui weer De Mense genoemd als de echtgenote van Albert Corbelijn, gepensioneerd marine officier. In een in de krant geplaatste huwelijksadvertentie wordt haar dochter Catharina Catharina De Mensen genoemd: behuwd dochter van Albert Corbelijn

 

Als in 1870 Catharina van Straaten de Mensen naar Wormerveer verhuist met haar kinderen, behoort haar neefje met de naam Meintser ook tot haar gezin.
