In this overview the family trees of my 4 grandparents:

Research into the name Van Dooijeweert shows that the name is a name of origin (toponym), derived from the place name Dodewaard, where the "Huys Doyewert" once stood, where the noble family Van Dodenweerde lived.

The ancestors of my family branch are Cornelis Jansen (van Dodewaerd) from Dodewaard and Arjaentjen Willems from Wadenoijen. They married on 19-10-1681 in Wadenoijen. The surname Van Dodewaerd was first registered in this family branch at the marriage of their son Jan (or Johannes) Cornelissen van Dodewaerd (born Wadenoijen, 1687) and Jantje Stevens on 08-03-1711 in Wadenoijen.

The name Van Dodewaerd still occurs, but no longer in this family branch. In this branch, the name has often been bastardized since the 17th century and appears in descendants in the various deeds and registers in many different spellings, including Van Doijewaerd, Van Doijeweert, Van Dodewaard, Van Doijewaard, Van Dooijewaard, Van Dooijeweerd, Van Dooijeweert sometimes with y instead of ij and sometimes without an infix. Despite these corruptions, those persons (including myself) can be traced back to the same ancestor. The largest branch currently writes the name as Van Dooijeweert, that name is mainly found in the Betuwe and the Bommelerwaard (and also mainly in the river area). In the Tiel en Beesd region there is another branch that writes the name as Van Doijewaard. And at the beginning of the 19th century, a branch from Opijnen settled in Weesp and in 't Gooi and writes the name to this day as Van Dooijeweerd, with a d at the end.

The second progenitor in the name genealogy is Antonij van Doijeweert (also known as Van Doeijewaert, Harderwijk region, ca. 1655) that name has also been corrupted, and is still written without an infix and with a d at the end: Dooijeweerd. This name is mainly found in the Harderwijk region.

The third progenitor in the name genealogy is Hendrik van Doojeweerth (Geldermalsen, ca. 1682) that name has also been corrupted, and is still written as Van Dooijewaard.

At the moment, a family relationship between the three ancestors is not (yet) demonstrable.
