Notes about Aleidis van Gent

XXVI Aleidis van Gent, geboren rond 1110, overleden voor 1154. Zij wordt in 1139 vermeld als erfdochter van burggraaf Zeger I van Gent. Aleidis was eerst gehuwd met Hugo I van Encre, vermeld in 1139 als burggraaf van Gent. Zij hertrouwde voor 08-08-1145 met Steppo van Viggezele, ridder, heer van Bornhem en voogd van Temse. Hij was mogelijk een zoon van Willem, burggraaf van Ieper, heer van Loo, en N.N. van Bourgondië. Viggezele ligt in West-Vlaanderen, noordoostelijk van Tielt. Steppo had rond 1140 een conflict met de abdij van Affligem omdat hij meende erfelijke rechten te kunnen doen gelden op een schaapskooi te Pakinge. In 1164 schonk hij aan de Sint Pietersabdij te Gent land gelegen in “Transblide” (Beoostenblij) in “castellaria de Axla” (Axel).
