'Ik heb de kleine Noach geadopteerd' zo liet Hetty mij zondag 29 januari 2017 telefonisch weten, doelend op de voorgenomen oprichting van het namenmonument in Amsterdam ter nagedachtenis aan de ruim 102.000 Nederlandse Joden, Sinti en Roma (voornamelijk uit Amsterdam) die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog door de Duitsers in talrijke concentratiekampen zijn vermoord.

Uit eerbied voor de om het leven gebrachte familie Simmeren heb ik de stamboom 'Simmeren' samengesteld en zijn de namen van vader, moeder en de zijn vijf broertjes en zusjes van Noach Jozef in kaart gebracht. Noach Jozef was het op één na jongste kind.

In de nacht van 02 op 03 oktober 1942 werd het gezin tijdens een razzia gearresteerd en afgevoerd naar Kamp Westerbork (Dr) en ruim vier maanden later, omstreeks 09 februari 1943, op transport gesteld naar het concentratiekamp Auschwitz (Polen) en aldaar direct na aankomst, op 12 februari 1943 vermoord. Noach Jozef was nog maar net vier jaar oud.

Vader van Simmeren was kennelijk aan de razzia ontsnapt doch kwam op 02 mei 1945, slechts enkele dagen voor het einde van de oorlog, alsnog 'ergens in Duitsland' om het leven.

Denkend aan wat de familie in de laatste dagen van hun leven heeft moeten doorstaan, overspoelt een gevoel van afschuw, verdriet en onmacht.

Ter eeuwige nagedachtenis aan wat hen is overkomen en opdat ze nooit zullen worden vergeten, dient deze stamboomn.
