Notes about Johannes Eeck

EECK (Johannes), Heer van Loppersum en Wirdum, was de zoon van Tjaard Eeck, koopman in hout te Farmsum en van Johanna Bernards, werd in 1600 geboren en baande zich door zijne bekwaamheid den weg tot ambten. Eerst was hij secretaris van het Hof, werd in 1635 secretaris van Gedeputeerden en van de Staten zelven. Vervolgens kwam hij in de regering, steeg langs de gewone trappen tot Burgemeester op en bekleedde vervolgens vele commissien, zoo te 's Hage als te Groningen. Hij was bij de groote Vergadering in 1651, en verwierf zich door dit alles grooten lof en had gestadig een groot deel aan het bestuur van zaken; ook was hij Curator der Groningsche Hoogeschool. Hij overleed in 1663.
