Hobby's: In een schuurtje achter het huis hield Gerrit konijnen en hij had ook een mooie volière met kanaries. In de huiskamer had hij altijd een paar kooien met kanaries staan,waar een gordijntje voorhing. Hij haalde veel prijzen met zijn zang kanaries zelfs op het landelijk niveau. Gerrit huwde (1909) op de leeftijd van 25 jaar met 20 jarige Reintje Alberta Huiskamp uit Deventer. Dit gezin zette vijf kinderen op de wereld: 3 dochters en 2 zonen.
Christina(1910), Riek(1915), Gerrit Albert(1916), Reinder(1919), en Sjaan(1922). Hij rookte graag een pijp, bezat een heel rek met diverse pijpen en pruimde ook graag. Toen hij niet meer werkte kon hij uren uit het raam zitten kijken vanaf het Groenedijkje, te Deventer, waar hij met zijn gezin woonde en hierbij staarde hij uren lang naar alle ...automobielen.. op de drukke Boxbergerweg te Deventer.
Gerrit Albert is na 4 jaar weduwnaar overleden op 88 jarige leeftijd, en heeft ook nog 2 WERELDOORLOGEN... meegemaakt...
Hij had een heel rustig karakter en was een allervriendelijkste man.
