Adrianus Johannes is op 15 augustus 1875 tot priester gewijd. Na zijn wijding is hij van 17
september 1875 tot 21 october 1875 assistent in Goes. Tot 1 februari 1876 is hij kapelaan te
Voorburg, dan tot 24 juni 1876 te Berkenrode en tot 8 october 1877 te Amsterdam (St Nicolaas).
Hij wordt dan benoemd tot professor aan het seminarie te Voorhout en geeft les aan de eerste of
onderafdeling van het seminarie Hageveld te Warmond. In die periode schrijft hij ook verhalen in
de Katholieke Illustratie. Volgens de necrologie in het dagblad van Zuid Holland van 12/13
februari 1893 vertoonde zich een vreselijke ziekte, die spoedig toenam, zodat hij in het ontslag
van professoraat en de aanvaarding van parochiale zorgen over Rijndijk, in 1891 de gelegenheid
hoopte te vinden om zijn krachten geheel te herstellen. De krant schrijft verder dat hij de wens
had om naar zijn parochie vervoerd te worden om daar te kunnen sterven. Hij ontsliep na een
smartelijke doodstrijd van 24 uur omringd door zijn 80 jarige moeder en vele treurende
bloedverwanten in de plaats van zijn geboorte.
Schreef behalve bijdrages in Vincentius Almanak en Katholieke Illustratie ook de handleiding der
Griekse en Romeinse mythologie.
