Notes about Gerritdina Brinkcate

Gerritdina volgde haar man in 1907 met 5 zonen naar Amerika . Zij vertrokken op 2 maart 1907 vanuit Rotterdam met de "Nieuw Amsterdam" van de Holland-Amerika-lijn en arriveerden op 14 maart 1907. Hun reisdoel was Mr. A.D. Oldenboom, p/a Excelsior Hotel, Maurer in de staat New Jersey. Volgens de passagierslijst was ze 5 voet en 7½ inch lang (dus 1,70 m) en had ze blond haar en blauwe ogen. De vragen zoals gesteld bij Dinus staan niet op de passagierslijsten van de "Nieuw Amsterdam". Gerritdina stond in de passagiersljst genoemd als Geidma. Mogeljik was dit een verbastering van de roepnaam Gerda.
Na de hereniging vestigden ze zich in Maurer, later in Woodbridge, New Jersey, waar ze een melkhandel hadden: "Oldenboom Dairy".
Arend Dinus en zijn familie werden op 14 juni 1912 tot Amerikaans staatsburger genaturaliseerd. Ze woonden toen aan de Statestreet, Town of Maurer NJ. In 1910 sprak Gerritdina nog uitsluitend nederlands.
Gerritdina is in 1930 in Nederland geweest en heeft daar haar familie in Delden en Hengelo bezocht. Zij logeerde bij haar zuster Leida in Hengelo.

In 1915 staat de familie in het bevolkingsregiser genoteert als Greud O Oldenbaum, Carodina Oldenbaum, Derkia Oldenbaum, Herman Oldenbaum, John H Oldenbaum, Bernarth J Oldenbaum en Martin Oldenbaum
