Omschrijving Norbertus de Kanter (1813-1872) leerlooier en vellenbloter. Hij kocht in 1859 voor
9400 gulden een deel van de leegstaande Lancierskazerne aan de St. Josephstraat. Toen hij op 27
juni 1872 overleed, kwam zijn bezit in eigendom van zijn weduwe Hendrika Wilhelmina van Zantbeek
(1831-1879). In 1895 vekocht haar zoon Alphons de vellenbloterij aan de gebroeders Van den Bergh,
die daarmee het gehele voormalige kazernecomplex in bezit kregen. Deze fabriek bekend onder de
naan BeKa, heeft tot 1968 bestaan.
