Notes about Cornelis Groot

Kees had een bietenkokerij in de Houtrakpolder.
Hij verkocht zijn land, wegens verbreding van het Noord Zeekanaal aan de Staat en verhuisde 10 mei 1910 naar de Beemster, Jisperweg 6.
Hij werd hierdoor zeer vermogend, maar met zoveel kinderen vervloog het kapitaal snel.
In de Beemster was hij de eerste landbouwer, andere boeren hadden alleen veeteelt. Hier werd veel over in de krant geschreven.
Vanaf 1914 woonden Kees en Geertje aan de Jisperweg 70 in de West-Beemster; een mooi patriciershuis.
Kees (en zijn ouders) woonde voor zijn trouwen met Cornelia Blokker in Enkhuizen.
