Notes about Joannes "Jan (de oude)" Boermans

Zegel: Een Schild, beladen met twee balken in den vorm van een St. Andreaskruis, waarvan de uiteinden scherphoekig naar binnen gebogen zijn, belegd met een hart, doorboord met een rechtopstaanden pijl. Helm met wrong en dekkleeden. Helmteeken: Het alleen met den pijl doorboorde hart, iets meer dan halfwassend herhaald.

BOERMANS (Johan) (2), bijgenaamd de Oude, geb. te Venlo omstreeks 1570, overl. aldaar 16 October 1639, zoon van Johan (1) en Magdalena Staels, was lakenkoopman en tingieter van beroep, leverde herhaaldelijk aan de stad. Hij was provisor van het St. Jacobs-gasthuis, en der huisarmen sedert 1607, rentmeester van Venlo 1614 en 1635, schepen sedert 9 Juli 1634 in plaats van Pelgrom Huygens en 1 Januari-29 Augustus 1637, peijburgemeester in 1636. Hij huwde 9 November 1597 met Margaretha Craenen, (overl. na 1643, dochter van Engelbert Craenen en van Maria Engelborgh), hunne kinderen waren: o.a. Arnold (geb. 17 Oct. 1601, overl. te Keulen 17 Juli 1622), Sibilla (geb. 1 Maart 1604, overl. 21 April 1636), Johan (3) (die volgt), Caspar (geb. 4 Nov. 1609, overl. te Venetië 9 Oct. 1630), Egidius (geb. 26 Febr. 1613, overl. na 1654, huwde 19 Sept. 1634 met Margareta in de Betouw), Magdalena (geb. 29 Januari 1616, overl. 17 Augustus 1632).
