Een van een drieling waarvan er 2 in leven bleven. Ook moeder stierf bij de zware bevalling.
Na de militaire dienst melde Godefridus zich, als knecht, op Albano, de boederij van de broeders van St. Louis. Op 25 jarige leeftijd trad hijin bij de congregatie van St. Louis. Hij liet zich als broeder naar de H. Columbanus noemen. Hij knipte er jaren lang de broeders en de jongens op het internaat. Zoals bij vele kappers stond zijn "kwebbel" (mond) geen moment stil. Hij knutselde heel handig, vele weerhuisjuis waren het resultaat. Later is hij vanwege psychische problemen, enige tijd, opgenomen in een psychiatrische inrichting te Boekel. Tussen door is hij nog een jaar of zeven in Oudenbosch geweest. Maar uiteindelijk is hij toch op
72 jarige leeftijd in Boekel gestorven en begraven.
